Holiday Gifts for Customers, Dealers and Key Accounts: One Box to Each Buyer's Home, No Minimum
Updated
In short
Send each key customer or dealer one useful gift, addressed to the named buyer at their office or home, and keep the logo small but clear. Check the customer's gift policy, and don't let a vendor's minimum order decide who gets one.

We sell a $35 logo mug gift box, printed, packed and shipped to each person's address. This guide covers the other options too.
Key facts
- IRS Publication 463: "You can deduct no more than $25 for business gifts you give directly or indirectly to each person during your tax year." A gift to a company meant for "a particular person or a limited class of people will be considered an indirect gift" to them; and for "packaged food or beverages that you intend the customer to use at a later date, treat it as a gift" (Pub. 463).
- In a 2013 survey by SAI Global, a compliance-software company, reported by Ogletree (2014), 35% of companies required corporate gifts to be "modest", defined as under $25. It's old, but the most recent figure we found.
- Federal employees may accept unsolicited gifts of "$20 or less per source per occasion" (5 CFR 2635.204).
- In a business.com poll of 1,547 professionals (Oct 2022; a publisher-run survey), the median company spend per gift was $30 (business.com).

What do suppliers and distributors send customers at the holidays?
Things the buyer will use at work, food, and drinkware with a small logo. Someone who runs customer relations for a pre-engineered metal-building company wrote: "we love to give all of our key customers gifts at the end of each year," and listed "very nice office chairs, heated coats, Leatherman multi tools, gift cards to Home Depot." A reply in the same thread: "A yeti with your logo on it. I give these out and I see everybody using them" (r/GeneralContractor, 2024).
A large regional HVAC distributor's giveaways are "normally it's t-shirts, hats and sometimes travel mugs," an employee wrote. One reply suggested "Little coolers, insulated coffee mugs," and warned: "T-shirts get used as rags" (r/HVAC, 2020).
Drinkware keeps coming up. A small business with "roughly 10-15 key contacts/clients" sent "gift boxes with nice branded yeti mugs and I was surprised how appreciative people were" (r/smallbusiness, 2025). What givers are tired of is the catalog: one rep with a $10,000 budget wanted out of "branded stuff that comes from the same catalogue" (r/sales, 2021).

One gift per buyer, or one for the office?
Name a person on every box. A gift addressed to a company can land in the break room. One r/Dentistry commenter, on the gifts specialists send to their office, put it plainly: "The gifts are almost always consumed by staff before I even know they have arrived" (r/Dentistry). If the buyer, the plant manager and the accounts-payable clerk all matter to you, send three boxes with three cards.
Remote buyers need a home address. A consultant asked r/smallbusiness what to do because "most of my clients don't have an office (remote/wfh)" and "Sending gifts cards via emailing feels odd" (thread). Ask once, by email, and offer the office as an alternative; scripts in how to ask clients for their home address.
Dealers get the same treatment. A distributor's dealer network can be a list of small businesses, each with an owner and a few people who sell your line. Thank the people by name, not the storefront.
A custom logo mug gift box, shipped to each client
$35 per box, delivered. No minimum: one box is fine. Add your address list and we ship each box to its own address.
See the gift boxHow much should you spend per customer?
We found no recent neutral survey of what suppliers spend. What buyers of gifts say in public:
- "$150 per blue chip contact and $50 is for smaller spend" (a rep's budget, r/sales, 2021).
- "nicer" gifts of about "$100 / $200 max" for the larger clients (a small business, r/smallbusiness, 2025).
- A median of $30 per gift in business.com's 2022 poll (business.com).
Tiering accounts is a common way to plan the budget: top buyers and your best dealers first. Including everyone is plain arithmetic: with no minimum, at $35 delivered each, 40 buyers and dealer contacts come to $1,400. If you do draw a line: which clients get a gift.
Why do minimum orders and cheap prints get in the way?
Minimums decide the list for you. A sales rep pricing "maybe two, maybe three dozen mugs" for clients wrote: "Having trouble making the math work on the mugs because of minimum orders" (r/sales, 2025). When a vendor's minimum is bigger than your list, you either buy swag for people you didn't mean to thank or you skip the gift. More in no minimum order: what it means.
Quality is the other complaint. The same rep's previous mugs disappointed: "The print peeled off my personal one in about three months." Ask any vendor how it prints and how it packs.
Can your customers accept a gift? Check before you send
This section quotes the rules. It doesn't apply them to your customers.
The buyer's own company policy comes first. "Many companies, especially larger ones, have strict policies about what kind of gifts can be accepted," one reply told a rep planning post-sale gifts (r/sales). A recruiter noted one client company caps what staff "can accept from a vendor (~$25/year)" (r/recruiting). The Emily Post Institute: "Be sure to follow your own company rules AND check with the HR department at the intended recipient's company first" (Emily Post).
Government buyers have a federal rule.
"An employee may accept unsolicited gifts having an aggregate market value of $20 or less per source per occasion, provided that the aggregate market value of individual gifts received from any one person … does not exceed $50 in a calendar year."
5 CFR 2635.204(a) (up to date as of October 27, 2026; read October 29, 2026)
State and local rules differ. More: gifts to government employees and client gift limits by industry.
This is information, not legal or tax advice. Check the current rule (or check with the recipient's agency ethics official) before you send.
The IRS $25 rule
"You can deduct no more than $25 for business gifts you give directly or indirectly to each person during your tax year. A gift to a company that is intended for the eventual personal use or benefit of a particular person or a limited class of people will be considered an indirect gift to that particular person or to the individuals within that class of people who receive the gift."
"Incidental costs, such as engraving on jewelry, or packaging, insuring, and mailing, are generally not included in determining the cost of a gift for purposes of the $25 limit. A cost is incidental only if it doesn't add substantial value to the gift. For example, the cost of gift wrapping is an incidental cost. However, the purchase of an ornamental basket for packaging fruit isn't an incidental cost if the value of the basket is substantial compared to the value of the fruit."
"… if you give a customer packaged food or beverages that you intend the customer to use at a later date, treat it as a gift."
IRS Publication 463 (for use in preparing 2025 returns; read October 29, 2026)
Publication 463 also lists items that "aren't considered gifts for purposes of the $25 limit": "An item that costs $4 or less" that has your name "clearly and permanently imprinted on the gift" and is "one of a number of identical items you widely distribute." More in are client gifts tax deductible?

What should the card say to a customer or dealer?
Two or three sentences about the year you had together, signed by the person they deal with. Your message is printed on the card (up to 300 characters): one message and one sign-off per order, and the message can greet each buyer by first name. Different reps signing for their own accounts? Place one order per rep.
- "Hi {first name}, thank you for a strong year. Every order you placed with us in 2026 kept our shop busy. Enjoy the cocoa, and happy holidays from all of us."
- "Hi {first name}, thank you for championing our line this year. Dealers like you are why we grew. Warm wishes for the holidays."
Skip the pitch: "Looking forward to your 2027 orders!" turns a thank-you into a quote. More lines: holiday card messages for clients.
How do I ship one box to each customer, dealer or buyer?
- Pull the list of buyers and dealer contacts you want to thank, by name.
- Confirm each address, office or home, and flag anyone at a government agency or a company with a gift cap.
- Write one card message that greets each person by first name, put the list in our address spreadsheet template, and order once, by the date for your occasion below.
Can you pack and ship them yourself?
Yes: a supplier can pack and ship its own customer gift boxes, and by our estimate 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work, about 3½ of them packing, plus a week or more waiting for supplies from a mug printer and about 8 other orders. Per box, it comes out about even with our $35: about $38 with USPS counter postage, about $34 with commercial postage, with $1,192.84 paid up front for the mugs, the retail supply packs and 25 postage labels (our DIY cost comparison, prices as of Oct 29, 2026). A mug packed without a collar can break at the handle and must be bought, packed and shipped again.
With Personalized Gifts Delivered, you can ship one box to each dealer or buyer: a custom logo mug gift box, shipped to each client, no minimum. Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. We ship from Texas, to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas addresses for now; P.O. boxes are fine. Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.

What to know before you order
- Gift limits. Each box is $35, delivered. Some employers and industries cap the gifts their people may accept; the limits, quoted from their sources: client gift limits by industry.
- One message and one sign-off per order. Every card greets its buyer by first name; reps who sign for their own accounts place one order each.
- Order size. One order takes up to 100 boxes; for a bigger dealer network, email us at hello@personalizedgiftsdelivered.com.
- The treats. LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels. The allergy and diet checklist covers what to ask first.
- Where we ship. The lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas addresses for now; no Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international. The order page flags any row we can't ship to, so you can fix it or take it out.
Where Personalized Gifts Delivered fits for a supplier's key buyers and dealers
Your list decides who gets a gift, not a vendor's minimum: $35 per box, delivered, whether you send 1 or 50. One order covers every named buyer on it:
- A gift to keep, and a treat to enjoy now: an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your logo printed small, a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles packed inside it, black tissue closed with a gold "Happy Holidays" seal sticker, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid.
- A card for the person, not the storefront: greeting each buyer by first name, in an envelope closed with a gold wax-seal sticker, previewed before you pay.
- Packed against breakage: by hand, on a 2 in foam pad, in a 1 in foam collar, with a 1 in foam pad on top, inside a plain white shipping carton with crinkle; the label's return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com. If a box arrives broken, send us a photo within 7 days of delivery and we'll reship it free. If a box goes astray because of an address on your list, we'll reship it to the corrected address for what the reship costs us, with no markup, and tell you the amount before we send it.
- An itemized record: when your boxes ship, you get one email with a spreadsheet of recipient, ship date, carrier, tracking number and $35 per box.

Frequently asked questions
- What do suppliers and distributors give customers for the holidays?
- Suppliers and distributors give customers useful things for the trade, food, gift cards and branded drinkware, according to suppliers on Reddit. One building-products company has given its key customers office chairs, heated coats, multi-tools and Home Depot gift cards; a reply in the same thread suggested a Yeti with the supplier's logo.
- Should we send one gift to the office or one to each buyer?
- Send one gift to each named buyer rather than one to the office: an office gift can be eaten or shared before the buyer sees it, as one r/Dentistry commenter described. IRS Publication 463 says a gift to a company "that is intended for the eventual personal use or benefit of a particular person or a limited class of people will be considered an indirect gift" to the people who receive it.
- How much should a supplier spend on customer holiday gifts?
- Public budgets run from a $30 median per gift (business.com's 2022 poll, a publisher survey) to $150 for a rep's top contacts on r/sales; we found no recent neutral survey. A common pattern is to tier accounts; with Personalized Gifts Delivered's $35 delivered box and no minimum, a gift for each of 40 buyers comes to $1,400.
- Can our customers accept a gift from a vendor?
- It depends on the buyer's employer: many companies cap what staff may accept from vendors (in a 2013 survey by SAI Global, a compliance-software company, 35% required gifts to be "modest", under $25). Federal employees may accept unsolicited gifts of "$20 or less per source per occasion" under 5 CFR 2635.204.
- Is there a minimum order for logo gift boxes?
- Personalized Gifts Delivered has no minimum order for logo gift boxes: $35 per box, delivered, whether you send 1 or 50, each shipped to its own address.
