Keeping the surprise until the call
Nothing outside gives the news away. The box ships in a plain white shipping carton with only the shipping label on it. The return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com, never your name; your name appears only on the card inside.
Inside the carton, they find a gift box with your card lying on the lid. Under the lid is black tissue closed with a gold seal sticker, and under the tissue, the mug, held in foam, with the cocoa and truffles packed inside it. The news is printed on the mug, so it stays hidden until the last layer comes off, which is the moment you want on camera.
What should the mug say?
One short line and a year carry the news on their own. On a Personalized Gifts Delivered mug, words print as one line of up to 30 characters, spaces included, in a choice of 3 fonts, on the front or on both sides. Our suggestion is 25 characters or fewer: a long line prints smaller.

The most the line takes; it prints smaller |
Every mug in one order carries the same words. For grandparents at one address, a line that fits both ("Promoted to Grandparents") keeps it to one order; a "Grandma" mug and a "Grandpa" mug are two orders, and one box is a complete order. The fonts print Latin letters, including most accents; other scripts and emoji can't print yet.
A photo instead. The scan picture prints too, up to about 3 in tall. Scan the printout, or photograph it flat in daylight from straight above, and crop to the picture. Below 200 pixels per inch at the size it prints (under 600 pixels tall for an upright or square photo, under 700 across for a wide one), our order page warns that it may print a little soft. Other photos that tell it: the two of you holding tiny shoes, or an older sibling holding a "Big Sister" sign. More on what prints well: the photo mug guide.
What should the card say?
The card's job is to stop them opening the box. The card is printed (not handwritten) on a textured card and holds up to 300 characters. One message and one sign-off go on every card in the order; the sign-off ("Love, Priya and Sam") is its own line on the order page, so leave it out of the message. The message can include {first name}, filled in from each address row. Lines to adapt:
- "Don't open the box yet! Call us on video first. Put the kettle on, find your glasses and ring us when you're both home."
- "Hi {first name}! This box comes with one rule: you open it on camera, with us watching. Call us when it arrives. No peeking."
- "Stop. Don't open anything. Call us on video, then open the box together. Trust us, you'll want us there."
- "We sent you something for your morning cup. The catch: you can't open it until we're on a video call. Call us tonight?"
You preview every card before you pay, and the order page tells you if a message is too long to print.
When will it arrive, and when should you call?
How a Personalized Gifts Delivered box ships: Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.
So order a week or more before you want to call, and let the tracking number pick the evening. Telling them at a holiday? These are the last days to order a Personalized Gifts Delivered box for delivery in time:

A December reveal suits this season's box: the tissue inside is closed with a gold "Happy Holidays" seal.
Can you put a reveal box together yourself?
Yes: you can order a printed mug and mail it to them yourself, and for one gift the printed mug and counter postage alone cost $28.46, before the cocoa, truffles, gift box, tissue or card (DIY cost comparison, as of Oct 29, 2026). Then you shop for the rest, often from several stores, and wait a week or more for the printed mug; pack it so the handle and the rim survive; and stand in line at the counter. A mug packed without a collar can break at the handle and must be bought, packed and shipped again, and a reveal doesn't get a second first time. Two sets of grandparents doubles all of it. For scale, by our estimate 25 mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work.
With Personalized Gifts Delivered, you type the words or add the scan, add each grandparent's address, check the preview and pay. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address.
What's in the box
Each box holds one 11 oz white ceramic mug with your news or your photo; a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles, packed inside the mug; black tissue closed with a gold "Happy Holidays" seal sticker; and your printed card on the lid, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid.
Packed by hand: the mug stands on a 2 in foam pad, held in a 1 in foam collar, with a 1 in foam pad on its rim, inside a plain white shipping carton with crinkle. The mugs we've seen break in shipping broke at the handle, and the rim is the other weak spot. If a box arrives broken, send us a photo within 7 days of delivery and we'll reship it free. If a box goes astray because of an address on your list, we'll reship it to the corrected address for what the reship costs us, with no markup, and tell you the amount before we send it.
Choose a personal gift, add your photo or type your words, check the preview of your mug and card, add the address (or a list of addresses), and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. That's the personalized mug gift box shipped to their door.
What to know before you order
- The seal reads "Happy Holidays". This season the tissue inside every box is closed with a gold "Happy Holidays" seal, reveal boxes included; the mug carries the news and your card carries the rest.
- No exact delivery day. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, so set the call by the tracking and order with days to spare.
- One design and one message per order. Every mug in an order carries the same words or photo, and every card the same message, greeting its person by first name.
- The treats. LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels. The cocoa and truffles are for the grandparents-to-be.
- Where we ship. From New York to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now; no Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international addresses. P.O. boxes are fine; they ship by USPS.
Where Personalized Gifts Delivered fits: grandparents-to-be who live far away
You can't be in the room when your parents find out, so the box goes instead. Personalized Gifts Delivered prints your news on an 11 oz mug, packs Ghirardelli hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles inside it, lays your "Don't open until we call" card on the lid, packs it by hand in foam, and ships it in a plain carton that gives nothing away. You see the mug and every card in the preview before you pay, and the tracking number in your shipping email shows when it's delivered, so you know when to dial. It's $35 per box, delivered, with one box to each set of grandparents in the same order.
