When Did Gift Companies Stop Taking Custom Holiday Orders?

On October 29, 2026, the holiday pages of four large gifting platforms listed these cutoffs. Goody, Snappy and SwagUp show no year beside their dates. Sendoso's page is titled "Holiday Gifting & Always-On Sending Strategies for 2025 and Beyond", so its dates may be last season's.

The platforms do things we don't: large catalogs, gifts the recipient chooses, sending outside the US. Their fees and minimums side by side: Goody vs Snappy vs Sendoso vs Swag.com vs SwagUp.

Why Do Custom Orders Close So Early?

Custom-logo merchandise is made in production runs after you approve a proof. SwagUp's FAQ, as of Oct 29, 2026: "Standard production is 10–15 business days after proof approval, plus shipping transit time." Rush production is 7 business days on most products, for an extra fee, and SwagUp recommends "placing orders at least 3–4 weeks before your deadline" (SwagUp FAQ). At standard speed, add a proof revision or two and a late-November order runs into Christmas.

Our box works differently: there's no minimum and no separate proof to approve (the mug preview you check when you order is your proof). Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.

What Still Works in Mid-December

Can I Still Make and Mail Client Gifts Myself?

Yes: if every box is packed and at the post office by USPS's dates, December 17 to 19. In mid-December, the supplies are the catch.

• The time: by our estimate, 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work (a mug printer and its proof, about 8 supply orders, 25 labels, 25 cards, about 3½ hours of packing), plus a week or more waiting for supplies to arrive.
• The calendar: start by Tuesday, December 8. By that estimate (a week or more for supplies), the last of them land around December 15 at the earliest, two days before USPS's Ground Advantage date, with the packing still ahead.
• The cost: about $38 a box with USPS counter postage and about $34 with commercial postage, with $1,192.84 up front for the mugs, the supply packs and 25 postage labels, and leftovers (DIY vs ordering, as of Oct 29, 2026). Per box, that comes out about even with our $35, before your time.
• One slip costs a second round: a mug packed without a collar can break at the handle, a stale address sends a box away and back, and a typo on 25 printed cards means printing 25 again.

Ordering from us, you skip the supplies and the packing. Your Real Deadline Is Your Client's Last Day in the Office

For a box going to an office, Christmas isn't the deadline. The client's last day at their desk before the break is. A box that lands after they leave can sit in a mailroom until January.

So before you count back from December 25, ask. One line does it: "We'd like to send you something small before the holidays. Will you be in the office the week of the 14th, or is home better?" Too Late for Christmas? Make It a New Year Gift

Word it as a New Year gift, not a late Christmas one: thank the client for the year, not the season, and it reads as planned. A card line that works (our wording, 124 characters):

"We waited until the rush was over so this would get your full attention. Thank you for a great year. Here's to the next one."

What Nobody Can Promise After December 19

After Saturday, December 19, USPS lists no send-by date for Christmas delivery in the lower 48, and its dates are recommendations: "Actual delivery date may vary and is based on origin, destination, Post Office™ acceptance time, and other conditions." A gift mailed later may still arrive in time, but no one can promise it.

What to Know Before You Order

• Our order-by dates are built on carrier estimates, at the slow end: up to 2 business days to ship plus 5 in transit. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees.
• Where we ship: the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now. P.O. boxes are fine. No Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international.

• Breakage and address problems: If a box arrives broken, send us a photo within 7 days of delivery and we'll reship it free. If a box goes astray because of an address on your list, we'll reship it to the corrected address for what the reship costs us, with no markup, and tell you the amount before we send it.
