Key facts
- Diwali 2026 is Sunday, November 8 on Drik Panchang's New York City calendar, with the festival days from Thursday, November 5 to Tuesday, November 10. We can't promise a box ordered in November 2026 arrives before November 8, so this guide's dates are for 2027.
- The date depends on where you are. Drik Panchang's 2027 calendars put Lakshmi Puja, Diwali's main day, on Thursday, October 28 for New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles, and on Friday, October 29 for New Delhi (read Nov 1, 2026).
- The Hindu American Foundation uses the same source: its festival dates are "based off Drik Panchang and set to New York City" (HAF).
- Sweets are part of it: "most families light diyas or candles in their homes and celebrate this special holiday by enjoying sweets and delicious food" (HAF).
- So are gifts: on Govardhan Puja, "Many regions also honor this as the first day of the new year and celebrate by exchanging gifts and showing gratitude for all they have in their life" (HAF).
- Business has its own Diwali rite: "Many communities historically involved in commerce, trade, and business harness the sacredness of this day to sanctify the account books" (HAF).
When Is Diwali 2027 in the US?
Diwali follows the Hindu calendar, so its date moves every year. Drik Panchang explains which day counts most: "The new moon day, which is known as Amavasya, is the most significant day of five days Diwali festivities and known as Lakshmi Puja, Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja and Diwali Puja." It sets that day by the evening, "when Amavasya Tithi prevails during Pradosh," the time after sunset, so the main day in 2027 lands a day earlier in US cities than in India.

The Hindu American Foundation's guide also lists six days, from Govatsa Dvādaśī to Bhai Beej, and notes that customs "vary based on the regional traditions of India" (HAF). Families and temples keep their own calendars, so if a client mentions a different day, theirs is the one that counts (our suggestion).
In 2026, Diwali's main day is Sunday, November 8, on Drik Panchang's New York City calendar.
Is a Sweet Gift Right for Diwali?
Sweets belong to the festival. The Hindu American Foundation describes families "enjoying sweets and delicious food" (HAF) and, on the main day, people who "light diyas, enjoy delicious foods, watch fireworks, and spend time with family and friends" (HAF). Gifts belong too: in many regions, Govardhan Puja is "the first day of the new year," marked "by exchanging gifts."
Be honest about what chocolate is. A box of cocoa and truffles is a sweet gift, not a Diwali sweet. Send it as "sweet wishes" for the festival, not as a stand-in for the sweets a family enjoys at home (our suggestion).
Should a Business Send a Diwali Gift?
Yes, to clients you know celebrate it (our view). Gifts are part of the festival: on Govardhan Puja, HAF says many regions celebrate "by exchanging gifts" (HAF). For the card, the Emily Post Institute's advice about friends who celebrate other holidays is "you might consider sending a card for their particular holiday, instead of yours" (Emily Post). A Diwali card to a client who celebrates shows you paid attention to their calendar, not just December's.
Know before you name it. Diwali "is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, and people of Indian heritage and non-Indian heritage" (HAF), and each faith keeps its own history for the day. For Jains, HAF writes, it is "the day Mahavira … attained moksha" (HAF). Sikhs, SikhNet writes, "celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas, which means 'Prisoner Release Day', which occurs on the same day as Diwali," marking Guru Hargobind's release from prison (SikhNet). A surname tells you none of this. If you're unsure, Emily Post's advice is a broader sentiment, "with no religious figures, messages or symbols on the card."
Thank them; don't market to them. In the US, HAF writes, Hindus "have come to be known for their celebration of Diwali, which is even being used in mainstream media and businesses to reach Hindu American markets" (HAF). A client gift should read as thanks, not as marketing: a sincere greeting and the year's thanks, with no offer on the card and no explaining the festival to someone who celebrates it (our view). Our printed card carries only your message and sign-off, with no logo.
Chopda Puja blesses the business year. HAF describes Chopda Puja, when "Many communities historically involved in commerce, trade, and business" bless the account books of the new fiscal year. For a client whose family business keeps that day, a thank-you for the year's business fits the season (our suggestion).
For the December side of the calendar, the same rule applies: "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"?
What to Write in a Diwali Card
- "Happy Diwali" says it plainly. HAF gives both names, "Diwali (dee-VAH-lee) or Deepavali (dee-PAH-va-lee)"; use the one your client uses. For a Sikh client who marks Bandi Chhor Divas, "Happy Bandi Chhor Divas" names their day (our suggestion).
- Light and prosperity come from the festival itself. HAF calls Lakshmi "the Goddess of wealth and prosperity" and Diwali the "Festival of Lights", so "a bright and prosperous year" fits a business card (our suggestion).
- Wording, not imagery. Leave deity images and sacred symbols off a business card unless you share the faith (our suggestion).
- Keep the thanks specific. The festival is the occasion; the year's work is the message.
Every message below fits our printed card, which holds up to 300 characters, and has no sign-off. On a Personalized Gifts Delivered order, [Name] becomes each client's first name, and the rest of the message goes on every card in that order.

When to Order for Diwali 2027
Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.
There's no way to pick a ship date or a delivery day, so the date you order sets the timing. For a box in hand before the festival days begin on Monday, October 25, 2027, order by Wednesday, October 13: count back 7 business days from the day it should arrive, Friday, October 22, the same count our holiday order-by dates use. No federal holiday falls in that count: Columbus Day, Monday, October 11 (OPM), comes before it, and our delivery estimates skip it. Ordering earlier in October is safer, since delivery dates are carrier estimates. Diwali comes weeks before the December rush, so these boxes don't compete with your holiday list. Every date in the year: the gift calendar, and when to send client gifts.
What Sending These Yourself Takes
Yes: you can assemble Diwali boxes yourself. By our estimate, 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work (a mug printer and a proof, about 8 separate supply orders, labels, cards, packing at about 8 minutes a box, drop-off and tracking), plus a week or more waiting for supplies. Priced from retail supply packs, they come to about $38 a box with USPS counter postage (about $34 with commercial postage), with $1,192.84 paid up front for the mugs, the retail supply packs and 25 postage labels, with leftovers, as of Oct 29, 2026 (DIY vs ordering). Per box, that's about even with our $35, before your time.
What one small mistake costs: a typo on 25 printed cards means printing 25 again, in the weeks before the festival. Ordering from us, by contrast: upload your logo (or type your website), paste the list of the clients who celebrate, type the message, check the preview, pay. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address.
What to Know Before You Order
- The seal sticker. The gold sticker that closes the tissue comes from the seals in stock when you order, and the order page names it before you pay. As of November 2026, the one in stock is a gold "Happy Holidays" seal embossed with pine trees. Your card carries the Diwali greeting.
- The box is black. It's a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid, and the tissue inside is black too. Some families avoid black for festival gifts: Teesside Live's Diwali guide says not to wrap presents in black, as the color "is considered unlucky" (Teesside Live, 2022). For a client you know keeps that custom, send the same box as a New Year thank-you in early January instead (our suggestion).
- Food rules. LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels. The box has no alcohol. We haven't checked the cocoa or the truffles against vegetarian, Jain or other religious food rules, so ask first. The allergy and diet checklist has the one-line question.
- One message per order. Every card in an order carries the same message, greeting each client by first name. Put your Diwali clients in an order of their own; one box is a complete order.
- Where we ship. We ship from Texas to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas addresses for now. The order page flags any row we can't ship to, so you can fix it or take it out before you pay.
Where Personalized Gifts Delivered Fits: Sweet Wishes, to Each Client by Name
A Diwali gift for clients works when it's sweet, sincere, on time and addressed to the person, not the office. That's the box we make:
- Your logo, small: an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your logo printed up to 2 × 1.5 in, so it reads as a gift, not an ad.
- Something sweet inside: a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles, under black tissue, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid.
- Your Diwali words, by name: one message for the order, printed on a textured card that greets each client by first name, in an envelope closed with a gold wax-seal sticker, lying on the lid. You see every card before you pay.
- To each client's door: packed by hand in foam, shipped in a plain carton whose return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com, with one email listing every tracking number when the boxes ship.
- One price: $35 per box, delivered, whether you send 1 or 50, with no minimum.
Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. A logo mug gift box with Ghirardelli cocoa, Lindt truffles and a personal card, or send this gift.
