We sell a $35 logo mug gift box, printed, packed and shipped to each person's address. This guide covers the other options too.
Key facts
- December is when everyone searches: US Google searches for "gifts for clients" peaked two to three weeks before Christmas in each season from 2021 to 2025 (our Google Trends study).
- Business gifting bunches at year-end: on Giftbit's gift-card rewards platform, reward value in November and December 2025 was "up 94%" on the January–October monthly average, "28% of the year's entire reward spend in just two months" (Giftbit press release via BNN Bloomberg, September 29, 2026). Giftbit's own platform data, about gift cards.
- USPS's Christmas send-by date for Ground Advantage is Thursday, December 17, 2026 in the lower 48 (USPS, as of October 29, 2026).
When Should Client Gifts Arrive?
We found no study that compares arrival dates for client gifts, so this is reasoning, not data. Four windows work, each for a different reason:
Scroll sideways to see the whole table →
| Window | 2026–27 dates | What it says | Watch out for | Order Personalized Gifts Delivered by |
| Thanksgiving | Thu Nov 26, 2026 | "Thank you," before the December rush | Arrives before many clients think about gifts | Mon Nov 16 |
| Early December | Dec 1–15, 2026 | The expected holiday thank-you | The peak weeks for client-gift searches | 7 business days before it should arrive; Tue Dec 15 is our last date for Christmas |
| New Year | Fri Jan 1, 2027 | "Thank you for a great year" | Offices closed until the first workday | Mon Dec 21 |
| A quiet month | January to March 2027 | "Thinking of you," unprompted | Easy to forget without a reminder | 7 business days before it should arrive |
For a box going to an office, the real deadline is the client's last day in before the break; ask them or their office manager.
Each window has its own guide: Thanksgiving client gifts, 2026 holiday order-by dates, New Year client gifts. Every 2027 date: the 2027 gifting calendar.
Why December Is Crowded
Two kinds of data point the same way, and neither measures client gifts directly:
- Search. In five seasons of US Google Trends data, "gifts for clients" peaked two to three weeks before Christmas, with a median 78% of the 8-week run-up's searches two or more weeks out. People shopping for client gifts look in early December, so their gifts arrive in the same weeks.
- Spend. Giftbit, which sells digital gift-card rewards to businesses, says reward value across its business customers was "up 94% in November and December compared to the January–October monthly average". Its data covers gift cards on one platform in 2025, not boxes or the whole market.
What follows is our reading, not a finding: a December gift competes with every other December gift for a client's attention. That doesn't make December wrong. A client who expects your gift every December will notice if it stops, so keep a tradition you've started.
Does a Surprise Gift Work Better?
The research says unexpected gestures register, and adds limits:
"A common practice among servers in restaurants is to give their dining parties an unexpected gift in the form of candy when delivering the check. … Study 1 found that customers who received a small piece of chocolate along with the check tipped more than did customers who received no candy."
Strohmetz, Rind, Fisher and Lynn, "Sweetening the Till: The Use of Candy to Increase Restaurant Tipping" (2002), abstract, Cornell eCommons. Read October 29, 2026.
"When given an unexpected gift, East Asians report less surprise and less pleasure than Westerners. … However, if the unexpected gift is attributed to good luck, which is a desirable form of the unexpected, East Asians experience even greater pleasure than Westerners."
Valenzuela, Mellers and Strebel, "Pleasurable Surprises: A Cross-Cultural Study of Consumer Responses to Unexpected Incentives", Journal of Consumer Research 36(5), 2010, abstract, RePEc. Read October 29, 2026.
A gifting platform's survey agrees on the direction. In Sendoso's 2022 gifting survey: "Nearly 24% of respondents indicated that a surprise gift was most likely to build a connection, followed by something practical (23%) or a gift card that can be used anywhere (20%)" (reported by MarTech360, November 3, 2022). Sendoso sells gifting, and 24% is not a majority.
Hold these to their size. A restaurant check is not a client relationship, and none of these studies measured a business gift's effect on revenue. What they support is modest: an unexpected, personal gesture gets noticed, and how it's received depends on the person.
How Often Should You Send Client Gifts?
We found no study that sets a number. Here is a cadence a small firm can keep (our suggestion):
Scroll sideways to see the whole table →
| When |
What |
Who gets it |
| Once a year: Thanksgiving, early December or New Year |
A real gift and a card |
Every client you can include, top clients first |
| The same season |
A card, written by hand or printed with a real message |
Every client |
| Once in a quiet month (January to March) |
A short note or a small, unexpected treat |
A few clients you want to keep close |
| Their own date (a project's end, a renewal, the day they became a client) |
A note, sometimes a gift |
Clients where the date is real |
A common pattern among small firms is a card for every client and a gift for the top tier. Including everyone is plain arithmetic: with no minimum, at $35 delivered each, 40 clients come to $1,400. If you do draw a line: which clients get a gift. What to write in the note: thank-you messages for clients.
If you give more than once a year, the gifts add up under several rules. IRS Publication 463 caps the deduction at "$25 for business gifts you give directly or indirectly to each person during your tax year", and some trades cap gifts per person per year. Each rule, quoted: gift rules and taxes. This is information, not legal or tax advice. Check the current rule (or ask your tax professional) before you send.
Timing a Gift So It Arrives When You Mean It To
How we ship, in full:
Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.
Count back 7 business days from the day the box should arrive. For a gift to a quiet-month date, put a reminder in your calendar two to three weeks before it (our suggestion): in our study, searches for named gifting days arrive mostly in the final week, too late to ship.
Can I Pack and Send Client Gifts Myself?
Yes: you can send them yourself, but one real gift a year to 25 clients is a project. By our estimate, 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work, about 3½ of them packing, plus a week or more waiting for supplies to arrive. It costs about $38 a box with USPS counter postage and about $34 with commercial postage, with $1,192.84 up front for the mugs, the supply packs and 25 postage labels, and leftovers (DIY vs ordering, as of Oct 29, 2026). Per box, that comes out about even with our $35, before your time. One slip costs a second round: a mug packed without a collar can break at the handle, and a stale address sends a box away and back.
Ordering from us, each window is one order. Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address.
What to Know Before You Order
- Gift limits. Each box is $35, delivered. Federal ethics rules and some trades' rules cap what a recipient may accept; the limits, quoted from their sources: gift rules and taxes.
- Warm months and warm places: our box holds chocolate truffles, so the cool-weather windows suit it best.
- Where we ship: the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now.
Where Personalized Gifts Delivered Fits in a Year of Client Gifts
The plan above has one real gift a year and a few small touches. Personalized Gifts Delivered is built for the real gift: a custom logo mug gift box, shipped to each client, no minimum, with an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your logo printed small, a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles, and your printed card on top of a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid, $35 per box, delivered, whether you send 1 or 50.
It fits each window: order by Monday, November 16 for Thanksgiving, Tuesday, December 15 for Christmas or Monday, December 21 for the New Year, or 7 business days before a quiet-month date. You see the mug and every client's card before you pay, and when the boxes ship you get one email with a spreadsheet of recipient, ship date, carrier, tracking number and $35 per box: a record of who was sent what, and when it shipped.
