We sell a $35 logo mug gift box, printed, packed and shipped to each person's address. This guide covers the other options too.
Key facts
- The address problem is the hard part. A poster on r/humanresources whose company was planning a virtual Secret Santa asked for a way to show each home address "to the secret Santa but not anyone else" (thread, Nov 2020). One organizer holding every address solves it.
- £21 a year is average Secret Santa spending in a OnePoll survey of 2,000 UK adults who have done Secret Santa, for Confused.com, a UK price-comparison site (Oct 29 – Nov 3, 2025) (Confused.com). We found no US survey.
- $15 was the budget one commenter's remote team of 12 used, in the same thread.
- Anonymous by design: the return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com, never the buyer's name, and the card carries only your message and sign-off, so a card signed "Your Secret Santa" gives nothing away.
- $35 per box, delivered, each to its own address, whether you send 1 or 50.
How to Run a Remote Secret Santa, Step by Step
- Make it opt-in and set the budget. Ask who wants in, and say who pays: the company, or each person. A commenter in that thread put it well: "make sure participation is voluntary only, for security of their personal information but also some people just don't want to spend their own money."
- Draw names. The organizer draws (or uses a free name-draw app) and keeps the list of pairings private.
- Collect addresses privately. Each person sends their delivery address to the organizer only, never to their Santa. The opt-in email in how to collect employees' home addresses works as written.
- Write one card for everyone. The organizer writes one message that greets each person by first name, with "Your Secret Santa" as the sign-off (examples below). Every card carries the same words with its own person's name; it can't carry each Santa's own note.
- Ask each Santa for one clue. They keep it for the call, not the card: "we've shared at least three deadlines" is more fun said out loud.
- Build one list. One row per recipient: their name and address. The address spreadsheet template has the columns.
- Order in time for the call. Count back from the day you'll open the gifts (dates below), and place one order for everyone.
- Open together on a video call. Everyone opens at the same time, each Santa gives their clue, and then guess, or reveal.
Want each Santa's own words on the card instead? Then each card needs an order of its own: the organizer places one order per recipient, with that Santa's note as the message and "Your Secret Santa" as the sign-off. One box is a complete order, and the addresses still stay with the organizer.

| With Personalized Gifts Delivered |
One order, one address list, one message with each first name filled in |
One box per order (there's no minimum), with that Santa's own words on the card |
Tell your group how the one-order version works: everyone opens the same box, and every card says the same thing with their own first name. The surprise is who drew you, and it comes out on the call.
No draw at all? One commenter in the thread found that "our staff hate secret santas" and sent food gift cards and a virtual dinner instead. The same one-list order works without a draw: everyone gets the same box, with a card from the whole team (gifts for remote employees).
How to Keep Secret Santa Anonymous When Gifts Are Shipped
- The outside gives nothing away. Each box ships in a plain white shipping carton with only the shipping label, and the return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com, never the buyer's name.
- The card never names a Santa. Make "Your Secret Santa" the sign-off, and every card says that.
- The card is printed, not handwritten, so handwriting can't give a Santa away.
- The tracking email goes to the organizer. When your boxes ship, you get one email with a spreadsheet of recipient, ship date, carrier, tracking number and $35 per box. Don't forward it: it lists every recipient.
- Clues go on the call. In one order every card carries the same message, so a Santa's clue is said out loud, not printed.
Secret Santa Card Messages (Anonymous)
Each fits the printed card, with "Your Secret Santa" as the sign-off. These five work as the one message for a whole order: {first name} fills in each person's first name from your list, and each line is true whoever drew whom.
- "Happy holidays, {first name}! I drew your name and was glad I did. Enjoy the cocoa, and bring your best guess to the call."
- "Wishing you a restful end to the year and a bright start to the next, {first name}. Thanks for being such good company, even from a distance."
- "Happy holidays, {first name}! I hope this arrives on a cold day and makes it a little warmer. Guess who?"
- "{first name}, from someone who notices how much you do for this team: thank you. Put your feet up and enjoy this one."
- For family: "Merry Christmas, {first name}! I can't be there to see you open it, so make the cocoa during our call and pretend I'm in the room."
These three are one Santa's words to one person, so each needs an order of its own ([Name] becomes their first name on the order page):
- "Thank you for being the one who answers the question nobody else will, [Name]. Enjoy the cocoa."
- "A clue: we've never been in the same room, but we've shared at least three deadlines. Thank you for every one of them."
- For family: "Hint: I'm the one who still owes you a phone call. Consider this a down payment, [Name]."
More lines for coworkers: employee holiday card messages.
What's a Good Budget for a Remote Secret Santa?
Spending on Secret Santa runs low, and that's worth knowing before you pick a gift. The best number we found is British: in a OnePoll survey of 2,000 UK adults who have done Secret Santa, for Confused.com, a UK price-comparison site, "Secret Santa spending averages £21 per year, depending on how many exchanges people are involved in" (Oct 29 – Nov 3, 2025). We found no comparable US survey. In the r/humanresources thread, one commenter's remote team of 12 used "a $15 budget" for silly gifts, shipped and opened at their online team meeting.
A remote exchange adds a cost an office one doesn't: every gift has to be mailed, so a cap means something only once delivery is in it. Our suggestion: set one cap with delivery included, and say who pays. Our box is $35 per box with delivery included, so its price is the whole cost of each gift.
Who pays matters as much as how much. "Some people have been burned in prior SS years or just don't have the finances to do this," another commenter wrote. A company-paid exchange removes that problem; an opt-in removes the rest.
When to Order for the Day of the Call
Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.
So count back at least 7 business days from the day of the call, and add margin in mid-December (our suggestion). For a call on Thursday, December 17, that means a complete order by Tuesday, December 8, or earlier.

Secret Santa for a Family Spread Across States
The same steps work for a family: one organizer, one list, one message that greets each person by first name, and everyone opens on the same call. A family exchange doesn't need a company logo. Choose a personal gift instead, and the mug carries a photo or design up to about 3 in tall, or a typed name or short message, in the same box at the same $35 delivered. See the personalized mug gift box, and for mailing family gifts in general, Christmas gifts to mail to family.
Can the Organizer Pack and Ship Every Gift?
Yes: an organizer can buy, pack and ship every gift, and by our estimate 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work, plus a week or more waiting for supplies to arrive. The estimate is for 25 boxes: a mug printer and its proof, about 8 supply orders, labels, cards, and about 8 minutes of packing a box. Per box, it comes out about even with ours: about $38 with USPS counter postage and about $34 with commercial postage, with $1,192.84 paid up front for the mugs, the retail supply packs and 25 postage labels (our DIY cost comparison, as of Oct 29, 2026). One mug packed without a collar can break at the handle and must be bought, packed and shipped again, and a wrong or stale address sends a box away and back.
Ordering from us, by contrast: upload a logo (or type your website), paste the list, check the preview, pay. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address.
What to Know Before You Order
- The price includes delivery. $35 per box, delivered, whether you send 1 or 50, so nothing is added for postage.
- Everyone opens the same box. In a one-order exchange, every mug and every card is the same, with each person's first name on the card; the surprise is who drew you.
- One message per order. Each Santa's own words take an order of their own (one box is a complete order), and the addresses still stay with the organizer.
- Where we ship. From New York to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now: no Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international addresses. The order page flags those rows, so you can fix them or take them out before you pay; everything else on your list stays as it is.
- The treats. LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels.
Where Personalized Gifts Delivered Fits for a Remote Secret Santa
In a remote exchange, the hard part is getting a gift to every home without the Santas seeing an address. Personalized Gifts Delivered prints, packs, labels and ships each box from the organizer's one list:
- One list, held by the organizer: each person's address goes on one list, and the Santas never see it.
- Each box to its own address: packed by hand in foam and shipped to its recipient's home in a plain white carton whose return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com.
- Every card greets its person by first name, signed "Your Secret Santa" and printed on a textured card in an envelope closed with a gold wax-seal sticker. You see every card before you pay.
- The same finished gift for everyone: a logo mug gift box with Ghirardelli cocoa, Lindt truffles and a personal card, or a photo or a few words on the mug for a family, with Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles packed inside it, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid.
- One price, one record: $35 per box, delivered, with no minimum, and one email to the organizer with every tracking number.
Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. Names drawn and addresses in? Start your order.
