Gifts for a Team of 5, 15 or 50: How Team Size Changes the Budget, the Gift and the Shipping
Updated
In short
Team Christmas gifts change with the size of the team. For a team of 5, a personal gift for each person works; at 15, give everyone the same gift and a personal note; at 50, the work is the address list, the budget and shipping, so pick one gift that ships to each home and start early.

We sell a $35 logo mug gift box, printed, packed and shipped to each person's address. This guide covers the other options too.
Key facts
- About $100 a head: a manager of 10 sales reps across the US shipped Harry & David gift baskets to each home, "so it ends up costing around $1000" (r/managers, Oct 2024).
- Shopping for several, givers pass up the better gift: they "tend to pass up gifts that would be better liked by one or more recipients in favor of giving different gifts to each recipient" (Steffel & Le Boeuf, 2014).
- $25 median, $62 average: employers' 2025 holiday gifts across "over 260,000 gifts" on Tremendous, a gift-card and payouts platform (Tremendous; platform data, not a survey).

| Team of about 5 | Team of about 15 | Team of about 50 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| The gift | Personal: tied to each person | One gift for everyone | One gift for everyone, chosen to ship well |
| The note | A paragraph or a page each | A personal line or two each | One message for everyone, greeting each by name, plus your sign-off |
| Real budgets from threads | $75 cards on top of time off (5 remote staff); $50 to $100 on top of $1,000+ bonuses (8 remote staff) | About $100 a head in baskets (10 reps); cookie boxes made by hand (16 people) | "$10 to $20 is $500 to $1,000" (about 50 reports) |
| The hard part | Being fair when gifts differ | Not drifting into 15 different gifts | Addresses, a delivered budget and the order-by date |
| Bonus first? | Yes, if you can | Yes, by one rule for everyone | Yes; a rule (hours or years) matters more at this size |
The budgets above are what posters described in the threads linked below, not averages.
A Team of 5 or Fewer: Make It Personal
Small teams are where a personal gift is worth the effort, because you know five people well enough to pick for each of them. A manager of two to four robotics technicians "preferred to find things that had some relation to their responsibilities": "One year was a multi-tool, another year was a pocket reference handbook" (r/managers, 2026). A record shop owner "gave both my employees turntables last Christmas" (r/smallbusiness).
At this size the note can be long. One r/managers commenter's whole method: "Everyone gets a small personalized gift based on what I know about them and a hand written note from me about a page that outlines why I appreciate them being on my team" (r/managers).
Two rules still apply when every gift is different:
- Keep the value equal. On a small team, a pricier gift for one person reads as a favorite. When an owner asked r/managers about a $200 sweater for one employee while another got a $150 restaurant card, one reply summed up the thread: "Either no gifts for reports or all the same gift" (r/managers, Dec 2025).
- Pay the bonus first. A small-business owner with 8 remote employees put it in the first line of the post: "The best gift is a bonus, obviously," then budgeted $50 to $100 for a gift on top of bonuses of "Probably $1000+" (r/smallbusiness, 2022).

See the gift boxA Team of 15: Same Gift, Personal Note
Around 15 people, picking 15 different gifts stops being thoughtful and starts being a project, and the research says it doesn't even help. In six experiments, Steffel and Le Boeuf found that givers choosing for several people pass up the better-liked gift to give each person something different, "because givers try to be thoughtful by treating each recipient as unique" (Journal of Consumer Research, 2014). Pick the one gift most of them would like, and put the individuality in the note.
What owners and managers described at this size:
- 18 to 22 employees: "I give bonuses at Christmas. I write a card for every employee by hand and put the check in the card. I also get a small gift that I put the card with. Usually I get boxes of chocolates from Costco" (r/smallbusiness).
- About 25 employees: gift cards from "a pre-selected list (a local company or two, Amazon, Walmart, etc)", with the amount set by years of service and performance (r/managers).
- 16 people, no company budget: "The company does an optional white elephant exchange and I make cookie boxes for my team" (r/managers).
On a team of 15, assume a mixed calendar. One commenter recalled a manager whose Christmas ornaments "caused a huge HR issue because someone complained since they didn't celebrate a traditional Christmas"; another gives everyone the same New Year gift "instead of a religious holiday (the team is diverse on that front)" (r/managers). Pick a gift with no religious imagery, and word the card for everyone: employee holiday card messages.
A Team of 50: Logistics First
At 50, the gift is the easy part. In a September 2026 r/smallbusiness thread on employee Christmas gifts, many replies said to give money first. A reply to a new nurse manager with "around 50 direct reports" did the math on paying for it personally: "$10 to $20 is $500 to $1,000, that's a company expense, not personal one" (r/managers, 2023). For a budget that can't stretch to bonuses, one commenter suggested splitting $2,000 for 50 people, "instead of giving $40 each", into a company lunch, a raffle for cash prizes and "the afternoon after the lunch as paid time off" (thread).
If you do send a gift to 50 homes, the work is in four places:
- The addresses. HR policies on using employees' home addresses for gifts differ by company. Ask people to opt in with a short form: how to collect employees' home addresses.
- The delivered budget. Price the gift with shipping to each home. A gift that costs $25 to buy can cost much more once it's packed and mailed 50 times.
- One gift, one message. Choose one gift and one card message for everyone; a first-name greeting makes each card personal without writing 50 notes.
- The calendar. USPS's recommended 2026 send-by date for Ground Advantage to the lower 48 is Thursday, December 17 (USPS, as of Oct 29, 2026). Leave yourself a week of slack for chasing the last addresses.
Gift cards come up often in these threads too: one bulk order, and each person picks. One fact sits on the other side: a useful mug gets kept. In ASI's 2026 Ad Impressions Study (a promotional-products industry survey), 87% of end-users said they would keep branded drinkware because it is useful (ASI).
What the total looks like

| Per person, delivered | Team of 5 | Team of 15 | Team of 50 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $25 | $125 | $375 | $1,250 |
| $50 | $250 | $750 | $2,500 |
| $100 | $500 | $1,500 | $5,000 |
A 50-person team turns every $10 of per-person budget into $500. Benchmarks: how much to spend on employee Christmas gifts.
Bigger Teams: Choice Platforms, Catalogs and Raffles
Some managers stop picking one gift and run a system instead. One builds "a 20-30 page PowerPoint with 100-150 various items (mostly Costco)", gives everyone a set amount ("this year, everyone gets $235"), and drop-ships the picks (r/managers). A choose-your-gift platform runs the same idea as a link; in Snappy's 2025 survey, 75% of employees said they want to choose their own gift (Snappy, a choose-your-gift platform; its own survey; Snappy). A choice link asks each person to pick and claim a gift; a Personalized Gifts Delivered order ships the same finished gift to each home, with your card on the lid.
Can You Pack and Ship Team Gifts Yourself?
Yes: you can pack and ship a gift box to every teammate yourself, and by our estimate 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work, plus a week or more waiting for supplies to arrive. The estimate is for 25 boxes; the labels, cards and packing grow with every name on the list.
| Step, for 25 boxes | Our estimate |
|---|---|
| Find a mug printer, compare minimums, upload the logo, approve a proof | about 1 hour |
| Order the rest separately: gift boxes, tissue, seal stickers, cards and envelopes, foam, shipping cartons, crinkle, cocoa, truffles (about 8 orders) | about 1 hour |
| Clean up the address list and buy 25 shipping labels | about 1½ hours |
| Write or print 25 cards | about 45 minutes |
| Pack 25 boxes (treats into the mug, foam, tissue, seal, card, carton, crinkle, tape), about 8 minutes each | about 3½ hours |
| Drop off the cartons, then follow 25 tracking numbers | about 1 hour |
Per box, it comes out about even. Our DIY cost comparison priced 25 boxes at retail, as of Oct 29, 2026: about $38 a box with USPS counter postage and about $34 with commercial postage, against our $35 delivered. The difference is the cash paid up front ($1,192.84 for the mugs, the retail supply packs and 25 postage labels, with leftovers) and the printing, packing and labels that are yours to do.
A small mistake costs more than time. A mug packed without a collar can break at the handle, and it must be bought, packed and shipped again. A wrong or stale address sends a box away and back. A typo on 25 printed cards means printing 25 again.
Ordering from us, by contrast: upload a logo (or type your website), paste the list, check the preview, pay. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address.
What to Know Before You Order
- Up to 100 boxes per order. For a bigger team, email us at hello@personalizedgiftsdelivered.com. Up to 100, one list covers everyone.
- One message per order. Every card in an order carries the same message and sign-off, with each person's first name filled in, and you see every card before you pay. A line for one person goes in an order of its own: one box is a complete order.
- Where we ship. From New York to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now: no Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international addresses. The order page flags those rows, so you can fix them or take them out before you pay; everything else on your list stays as it is.
- The treats. LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels. Every box holds the same treats: the allergy and diet checklist.
- The gift goes on top of the bonus. Many owners in these threads pay the bonus first; the box is the gift that goes with it.

Where Personalized Gifts Delivered Fits for a Team of 5, 15 or 50
From about 15 people up, a physical gift comes down to one job: the same finished gift at each person's home. Personalized Gifts Delivered ships it from one list, the same way for 15 people or 50, and a team of 5 is a complete order too. What ships to each home is a logo mug gift box with Ghirardelli cocoa, Lindt truffles and a personal card:
- The same gift for everyone: an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your logo printed small (or a photo or a few words), with Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles packed inside it, under black tissue and a gold seal, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid.
- A note that scales: your message, printed on a textured card in a sealed envelope, greeting each person by first name. You see every card before you pay.
- To each home: packed by hand in foam, in a plain white carton whose return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com. Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.
- One price at any size: $35 per box, delivered: $175 for a team of 5, $525 for 15 and $1,750 for 50, with no minimum.
- A record: when your boxes ship, you get one email with a spreadsheet of recipient, ship date, carrier, tracking number and $35 per box.
Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. For Christmas delivery, order by Tuesday, December 15. Team list ready? Start your order.
Frequently asked questions
- What's a good Christmas gift for a small team of 5?
- For a team of 5, pick each person a gift tied to what they do or enjoy, keep the value the same for all five, and add a note on why you're glad they're on the team. At 5 people you can afford the time that takes.
- What should I give 50 employees for Christmas?
- For 50 employees, pay a bonus if you can, then send everyone the same gift, shipped to each home from one address list, with one card message that greets each person by first name. At 50, the address list and the order-by date are the hard part.
- Should every team member get the same gift?
- Yes: give every team member a gift of the same value, and once the team is too big to shop for each person, the same gift. Steffel and Le Boeuf found that givers shopping for several people pick different gifts for each and pass up the gift recipients would like more.
- How much should I spend per person on team Christmas gifts?
- We found no neutral survey that sets a per-person figure; on the Tremendous gift platform, employers' 2025 holiday gifts had a $25 median and a $62 average. Price each idea delivered, multiply by the team, and pick a number you can repeat next year.
- Who ships one gift to each team member's home with no minimum?
- Personalized Gifts Delivered ships its $35 logo mug gift box to each team member's own address from one list, with no minimum: $175 for a team of 5, $525 for 15 and $1,750 for 50, delivered. One order takes up to 100 boxes, and every card greets its person by first name.
