# End-of-Season Thank-You Gifts for Recurring Customers: Lawn Care, Snow, Pool, Cleaning and HVAC Plans

The end-of-season thank-you for regular customers is a card from the crew and a gift that doesn't depend on knowing their tastes. Landscapers name planters, food and free mulch; for customers who may not drink, cocoa and chocolate avoid the wine question. One shipped box per customer covers a whole route.

*We sell a $35 logo mug gift box, printed, packed and shipped to each person's address. This guide covers the other options too.*

**Key facts**
- A landscaping company wanted "a 'thank you for your ongoing support' type of card and gift, to end the year on a high note," and asked: "GC for wine/liquor? What if the don't drink?" ([r/landscaping, Oct 2025](https://www.reddit.com/r/landscaping/comments/1o0ko9b/)).
- An estate gardener in the same thread leaves a holiday display planter with "a sign that says thank you with your logo," and does it "on the last fall clean up visit of the year."
- In business.com's October 2022 poll of 1,547 professionals (a publisher-run survey), 54% had thrown away at least one corporate gift without using it, and "prominently branded items felt more like ads than tokens of appreciation" ([business.com](https://www.business.com/customers/corporate-gift-study)).
- 87% of end-users would keep a branded drinkware item because it is useful ([ASI 2026 Ad Impressions Study; a promotional-products industry survey](https://members.asicentral.com/news/strategy/june-2026/asi-s-2026-ad-impressions-study-drinkware/)).

## What do service businesses give their regular customers?

The clearest public thread is from landscapers. A landscaping company, after a hard few years, wanted to do "something nice/extra for some of our quality, long-term clients" and asked other pros what they give ([r/landscaping, Oct 2025](https://www.reddit.com/r/landscaping/comments/1o0ko9b/)). The answers:

| What the business gives | What the landscaper said |
|---|---|
| A holiday display planter, left on the last visit | "holly, evergreens, a red ribbon, dogwood branches and a a sign that says thank you with your logo" |
| A free plant, or a food gift card | "some like a free plant (older women), some like food gift cards (older men)" |
| A drink, only where they know the customer | "if I know they drink and what they drink I go that route" |
| A service extra | "if I don't know any of there personal taste I'll offer a couple yards of free mulch with there next install" |

A lawn-care business on r/sweatystartup asked the same question five years earlier: "I'm thinking about what to get my regular lawn clients and honestly, I'm horrendous at gift giving" ([r/sweatystartup, Nov 2020](https://www.reddit.com/r/sweatystartup/comments/jwboao/)).

**What we didn't find:** a public thread from an HVAC, pool, snow-removal or cleaning company asking what to give plan customers. The question is the same one the landscapers asked: a thank-you every regular customer can use, from the people who do the work.

## What if they don't drink?

**Then wine and liquor miss.** The landscaping company listed it as the first problem: "GC for wine/liquor? What if the don't drink? GC to local restaurant? maybe." The landscaper who does give drinks does it only when "I know they drink and what they drink."

What works for a whole route, without asking every customer:

- **Cocoa and chocolate.** No alcohol, and a warm drink at the end of an outdoor season. LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels.
- **Something useful with a small logo.** In ASI's 2026 promotional-products industry survey, 87% of end-users said they would keep a branded drinkware item because it is useful. Keep the logo small: business.com's poll found "prominently branded items felt more like ads than tokens of appreciation."
- **Something tied to the work.** The planter and the free mulch both tell the customer the crew takes care of their place. They're delivered by the crew, on site.

## When should the gift go out?

At the end of each customer's season, while the work is fresh. Our suggestions, by trade:

| Business | The moment (our suggestion) | Who signs the card |
|---|---|---|
| Lawn care and landscaping | After the last mow or the fall cleanup | The crew and the owner |
| Snow removal | After the last plow of the winter | The plow crew |
| Pool service | At closing | The pool tech |
| Cleaning | December, or the anniversary of the first clean | The cleaning team |
| HVAC maintenance plan | After the fall tune-up, or in December | The technician and the office |

For December, the order-by dates:

| Occasion | 2026 date | Order Personalized Gifts Delivered by |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thu Nov 26 | Mon Nov 16 |
| Hanukkah | Begins the evening of Fri Dec 4 | Mon Nov 23 |
| Christmas | Fri Dec 25 | Tue Dec 15 |
| New Year | Fri Jan 1, 2027 | Mon Dec 21 |

## How much should you spend, and on whom?

**We found no survey of what route businesses spend on customer gifts.** For corporate gifts in general, business.com's 2022 poll put the median company spend per gift at $30 ([business.com](https://www.business.com/customers/corporate-gift-study)).

The landscaping company wanted a gift for "some of our quality, long-term clients," a shorter list than the whole route. Including every regular customer is arithmetic: with no minimum, at $35 delivered each, a 40-customer route comes to $1,400 and an 80-customer route to $2,800. If you do draw a line: [which clients get a gift](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/client-gifts/which-clients-get-a-gift).

**The big HOA or strata.** The company put it as "what if it's a big strata, we can't send them all to dinner." The choices: a gift to the board members or the property manager who hired you, or one to every owner, each at their own address. With no minimum, 40 owners at $35 each, delivered, come to $1,400.

## What should the card say?

Thank them for the season, from the people who did the work. On a Personalized Gifts Delivered order, the card is printed (not handwritten), with no logo or brand: one message and one sign-off for the whole order, up to 300 characters. The message can include {first name}, filled in from your customer list, and you preview every customer's card before you pay. The order page tells you if a message is too long to print.

> Hi {first name}, that's a wrap on another season. Thank you for trusting us with your yard all year. Enjoy the cocoa, and we'll see you in the spring.

> {first name}, thank you for being on our route this year. Every visit to your place was a good one. From all of us, warm wishes for the holidays and a great new year.

Sign it from the crew: "The crew at" and your company's name goes in the order's sign-off, not in the message.

## How do I send one to each customer on the route?

You already have the list: every regular customer's service address is on your invoices. Export it to a spreadsheet; our [address spreadsheet template](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/how-it-works/client-address-spreadsheet-template) has the columns.

### Can the crew pack and drop them off?

Yes: a crew can pack gift boxes in the shop, and by our estimate 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work, plus a week or more waiting for supplies. That's a mug printer's proof, about 8 supply orders, 25 labels, 25 cards and about 3½ hours of packing (about 8 minutes a box). Per box, shipped, it comes out about even with our $35: about $38 with USPS counter postage, about $34 with commercial postage, with $1,192.84 paid up front for the mugs, the retail supply packs and 25 postage labels ([our DIY cost comparison](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/compare/diy-mug-gift-box-vs-ordering), prices as of Oct 29, 2026). A mug packed without a collar can break at the handle and must be bought, packed and shipped again, and the packing hours land at the end of the season.

With Personalized Gifts Delivered, it's one order. Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. We ship from New York, to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now. Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.

## What to know before you order

- **One logo and one message per order.** Every mug carries the same logo, and every card the same message and sign-off, with each customer's first name filled in. A different message for your estate customers is its own order; one box is a complete order.
- **The seal and the treats outside winter.** The tissue's gold seal reads "Happy Holidays", so for a pool closing in September the card carries the occasion. The box holds chocolate, which softens in summer heat.
- **The treats.** LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels. The [allergy and diet checklist](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/client-gifts/food-allergy-gift-checklist) covers what to ask first.
- **Where we ship.** The lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now; no Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international. The order page flags any row we can't ship to, so you can fix it or take it out.
- **Tax questions.** The IRS's business-gift rules, quoted from Publication 463: [are client gifts tax deductible?](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-rules/are-client-gifts-tax-deductible)
- **If something goes wrong.** If a box arrives broken, send us a photo within 7 days of delivery and we'll reship it free. If a box goes astray because of an address on your list, we'll reship it to the corrected address for what the reship costs us, with no markup, and tell you the amount before we send it.

## Where Personalized Gifts Delivered fits for a route business

At the end of the season, the customer list is already on your invoices. One order ships a thank-you to each customer on the list, with no packing day:

- **A gift with no alcohol:** an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your company's logo printed small, with a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles packed inside it, black tissue closed with a gold seal sticker, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid.
- **The crew's thank-you:** your message, printed on the card, greeting each customer by first name and signed from the crew, in an envelope closed with a gold wax-seal sticker. You see every customer's card before you pay.
- **Packed against breakage:** by hand, on a 2 in foam pad, in a 1 in foam collar, with a 1 in foam pad on top, inside a plain white shipping carton; the label's return address shows PersonalizedGiftsDelivered.com.
- **A record for your books:** when your boxes ship, you get one email with a spreadsheet of recipient, ship date, carrier, tracking number and $35 per box.

That's $35 per box, delivered, whether you send 1 or 50. [Send each customer on your route a logo mug gift box with Ghirardelli cocoa, Lindt truffles and a personal card, shipped to each customer, no minimum](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/custom-logo-mug-gift-box).
