# Hanukkah 2026 Starts Dec 4: Gifts for Clients Who Celebrate, When to Order, and What to Write

In 2026, Hanukkah runs from sundown on Friday, December 4, to nightfall on Saturday, December 12; it begins three weeks before Christmas. A client gift timed for Christmas arrives after the holiday is over. To have a Personalized Gifts Delivered box arrive before the first night, order by Monday, November 23.

**Key facts**
- **Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, and ends at nightfall on Saturday, December 12** ([Hebcal](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2026)).
- **USPS flags the early date on its own holiday page:** "Please note that Hanukkah (Dec. 4 - Dec. 12) is earlier this year so please adjust accordingly" ([USPS](https://www.usps.com/holiday/holiday-shipping-dates.htm), read Oct 26, 2026).
- **The date moves every year.** Hanukkah starts "on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December" ([Hebcal](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2026)). In 2027 it begins at sundown on Friday, December 24 ([Hebcal](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2027)).
- **The greeting:** "In English, it's perfectly normal to say 'Happy Hanukkah.'" ([My Jewish Learning](https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/how-to-greet-someone-on-hanukkah/)).
- **Our box is not kosher-certified.** LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels.
- **Personalized Gifts Delivered:** order by Monday, November 23 for delivery before the first night; $35 per box delivered, no minimum, each box shipped to its own address in the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas addresses for now.

## When Is Hanukkah 2026, and Why Does It Catch Senders Out?

Christmas shipping runs on USPS's dates: its recommended send-by date for delivery before Christmas by Ground Advantage, in the lower 48, is Thursday, December 17 ([USPS](https://www.usps.com/holiday/holiday-shipping-dates.htm)). In 2026, Hanukkah ends five days before that, so a Hanukkah gift has to go on its own, earlier list, apart from your client and corporate Christmas gifts.

| Year | Hanukkah begins (sundown) | Ends (nightfall) | Christmas | What it means for a client gift |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Sun Dec 14 | Mon Dec 22 | Thu Dec 25 | Hanukkah ran into the week before Christmas, so one mid-December shipment could reach both |
| **2026** | **Fri Dec 4** | **Sat Dec 12** | **Fri Dec 25** | **Send Hanukkah gifts about three weeks before Christmas gifts** |
| 2027 | Fri Dec 24 | Sat Jan 1, 2028 | Sat Dec 25 | One December shipment can serve both |

Dates: Hebcal for [2025](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2025), [2026](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2026) and [2027](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2027).

Hanukkah is "observed for eight nights and days" ([Hebcal](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2026)), so a box that lands after the first night still lands during the holiday. After nightfall on Saturday, December 12, make it a [New Year gift](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-calendar/new-year-client-gifts) instead.

## Should a Business Send a Hanukkah Gift or a General Holiday Gift?

**Name the holiday only when you know.** Send a Hanukkah card to clients you know celebrate it: they've told you, they've wished you a happy Hanukkah, or you've celebrated with them. Don't guess from a name. The Emily Post Institute's advice for friends who celebrate a different holiday from yours: "you might consider sending a card for their particular holiday, instead of yours" ([Emily Post](https://emilypost.com/advice/holiday-greeting-cards)).

**When you're not sure, go broader.** Emily Post again: "If you're unsure and don't know the person well enough … go with something that has a broader sentiment: 'Seasons Greetings' or 'Happy New Year'." For a mixed list, see ["Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"?](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/card-messages/merry-christmas-or-happy-holidays)

**Hanukkah already has a thank-you story.** NPR reported in 2014 that in the shtetls of Eastern Europe, Hanukkah gelt was "basically an end-of-the-year tip for itinerant workers." Gina Glasman, who teaches Judaic Studies at Binghamton University, named them: "A butcher for kosher meat, and a teacher for Jewish studies … Hanukkah was a time you paid these men a little bit extra" ([NPR](https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2014/12/12/370368642/hanukkah-history-those-chocolate-coins-were-once-real-tips)). The same piece, citing Brandeis historian Jonathan Sarna, says Hanukkah's American focus on gift-giving and children grew as Christmas did. For a client, one modest gift and a sincere card fit that history better than a big present (our view).

## Is the Personalized Gifts Delivered Box Kosher?

**No: our box is not kosher-certified.** We haven't verified a kosher certification on the Ghirardelli cocoa or the Lindt LINDOR truffles, and the assembled box carries none. Don't infer it from the brand either: "just because some items produced by a company are kosher does not mean all of the company's products are kosher" ([My Jewish Learning](https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/ask-the-expert-kosher-symbols/)).

Kosher certification "identifies product as complying with Jewish law," and "Each symbol, known as a hechsher, comes from a different organization or rabbi" (same source). Choose a kosher-certified gift, from a seller that shows the certification on each item, when:
- **your client keeps kosher**;
- **the gift goes to a team or office** where some people keep kosher.

For allergens, the [allergy and diet checklist](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/client-gifts/food-allergy-gift-checklist) covers what to ask first.

## How to Order a Hanukkah Gift in Time

Personalized Gifts Delivered makes a [custom logo mug gift box, shipped to each client, no minimum](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/custom-logo-mug-gift-box): an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your logo printed small, a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles, and your printed card in a sealed envelope, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid, $35 delivered.

Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address. Each order carries one message, which can greet each client by first name from your [address list](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/how-it-works/client-address-spreadsheet-template), so put your Hanukkah clients in an order of their own with a Hanukkah message, and send everyone else a season's greeting in a second order.

For Hanukkah, order by Monday, November 23. Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December. We ship from Texas to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas addresses for now; P.O. boxes are fine. All four holiday dates: [2026 holiday order-by dates](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-calendar/holiday-order-by-dates-2026).

## What to Write in a Hanukkah Card to a Client

- **In English, "Happy Hanukkah" is right.** My Jewish Learning: "In English, it's perfectly normal to say 'Happy Hanukkah.'"
- **In Hebrew,** the same source gives "chag chanuka sameach"; "In Israel, it is common to just say chanuka sameach," and some Israelis prefer "chag urim sameach" ("Happy Festival of Lights"). Use Hebrew only if you know the client would welcome it (our suggestion).
- **Spelling:** Hebcal notes the name is "also romanized as Chanukah or Chanuka." Pick one English spelling and use it throughout the card.
- **Keep it about the client.** The holiday is the occasion; the thanks is the message. Don't explain Hanukkah to someone who celebrates it.

Every message below fits our printed card, which holds up to 300 characters. Replace the brackets: on a Personalized Gifts Delivered order, [Name] becomes each client's first name, and anything else you type goes on every card in that order.

> Happy Hanukkah, [Name]. Thank you for a wonderful year working together. Wishing you and your family eight bright nights.

> Wishing you a happy and healthy Hanukkah. Thank you for trusting us with [project] this year. It was a pleasure.

> Happy Hanukkah from all of us at [Company]. We're grateful for your business, and for you.

> Happy Hanukkah, [Name]. A small thank-you for a year of good work together. Wishing you a bright, warm holiday.

> [Number] years together and still grateful. Happy Hanukkah to you and your family, [Name].

> Happy Hanukkah, [Name]. Working with you made this year better. Enjoy something warm on a cold night.

> Wishing you light, warmth and a sweet end to the year. Thank you for everything, [Name]. Happy Hanukkah.

> Chag Chanuka Sameach, [Name]! Thank you for a great year together.

## What to Know Before You Order

- **A client who keeps kosher.** The assembled box is not kosher-certified, and we haven't verified a kosher certification on the cocoa or the truffles. For everyone else on your Hanukkah list, the box ships with your Hanukkah card.
- **Not sure the client celebrates Hanukkah?** The box is the same either way; only the card's words change. Put those clients in a second order with a season's greeting, or send it as a [New Year gift](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-calendar/new-year-client-gifts).
- **The treats.** LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels.
- **Packaging.** Every holiday box is the same matte-black magnetic box, its tissue closed with a gold "Happy Holidays" seal; nothing in the box names Christmas, and there's no Hanukkah-only packaging. My Jewish Learning: "'Happy Holidays' isn't inappropriate to say during the Festival of Lights." Your card carries the Hanukkah message.
- **Gift limits.** Each box is $35, delivered. Some employers and industries cap the gifts their people may accept, federal agencies among them; the limits, quoted from their sources: [client gift limits by industry](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-rules/client-gift-limits-by-industry).
- **Where we don't ship:** Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO, international addresses and, for now, Texas. The order page flags any row we can't ship to, so you can fix it or take it out before you pay.

## Where Personalized Gifts Delivered Fits for Hanukkah

In 2026 a Hanukkah gift runs on its own calendar, three weeks ahead of your Christmas list. Personalized Gifts Delivered does everything before the carrier: order by Monday, November 23, and we print your logo on an 11 oz white ceramic mug, pack a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles inside it, close the black tissue with a gold "Happy Holidays" seal, and lay your printed Hanukkah card on top of a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid, one to each client's address, $35 per box, delivered, with no minimum. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees.

Every card carries your Hanukkah message and greets its person by first name, and you see each one before you pay. When the boxes ship, one email lists every tracking number in a spreadsheet.

## Frequently asked questions

### When is Hanukkah 2026?

Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4 and ends at nightfall on Saturday, December 12, according to Hebcal. In 2027 it begins at sundown on Friday, December 24, Christmas Eve.

### When should I order a Hanukkah gift for a client in 2026?

Order a 2026 Hanukkah client gift by Monday, November 23 to have a Personalized Gifts Delivered box arrive before the first night, Friday, December 4. That's earlier than your Christmas gifts: a gift timed for Christmas arrives after Hanukkah ends on December 12.

### Is the Personalized Gifts Delivered gift box kosher?

The Personalized Gifts Delivered gift box is not kosher-certified, and we haven't verified a kosher certification on the cocoa or the truffles. If your client keeps kosher, choose a gift whose package carries a kosher certification symbol; for your other Hanukkah clients, order Personalized Gifts Delivered by Monday, November 23 for delivery before the first night.

### What do you write in a Hanukkah card to a client?

"Happy Hanukkah" is the standard English greeting. Add one line of thanks for the year, for example: "Happy Hanukkah, [Name]. Thank you for a wonderful year working together."

### Should I send a Hanukkah gift or a general holiday gift to a Jewish client?

The gift can be the same either way: the card is what names the holiday. If you know the client celebrates Hanukkah, a card that names it shows you paid attention; if you're not sure, the Emily Post Institute's advice on holiday cards for a business contact is a broader greeting such as "Seasons Greetings" or "Happy New Year".

### Who ships a Hanukkah client gift to each client's address with no minimum?

Personalized Gifts Delivered ships a $35 logo mug gift box, delivered, to each client's own address from one address list, with no minimum: one box is a complete order. For delivery before the first night of Hanukkah 2026, order by Monday, November 23; delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees.
