# Business Christmas and Holiday Card Messages for Clients: 55 Templates, Religious and Not, Plus Sign-Offs

Write a client holiday card in two or three sentences: thank them for one thing from the year, wish them a good season, and sign with a person's name. For a mixed list, default to an inclusive greeting, and save "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah" for clients you know celebrate. Here are 55 original templates.

*We sell a $35 logo mug gift box, printed, packed and shipped to each person's address. This guide covers the other options too.*

**Key facts**
- **Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4** and ends at nightfall on Saturday, December 12 ([Hebcal](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2026)): three weeks before Christmas.
- **For a business contact you don't know well,** Emily Post's holiday-card guidance says to "go with something that has a broader sentiment", with Seasons Greetings or Happy New Year as its examples ([Emily Post](https://emilypost.com/advice/holiday-greeting-cards)).
- **"Cards are usually sent anytime from Thanksgiving until a couple weeks into the New Year"** (same page), so an early-January card is not late.
- **Leave the offer out:** in business.com's 2022 poll of 1,547 professionals, "discount coupons seemed to be more resented than welcome by recipients", and prominently branded items "felt more like ads than tokens of appreciation" ([business.com](https://www.business.com/customers/corporate-gift-study)).
- **All 55 templates here are original and under 300 characters**, spaces included.

## Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays? Match the Greeting to What You Know

Pick the greeting by what you actually know about each client, not by what you celebrate.

| What you know about the client | Greeting | Section below |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing about their holidays, or it's a mixed list | Happy holidays, Season's greetings | Short and inclusive |
| They celebrate Christmas | Merry Christmas | Merry Christmas |
| They celebrate Christmas and share your faith | Religious Christmas wording | Religious Christmas |
| They celebrate Hanukkah | Happy Hanukkah | Happy Hanukkah |
| They don't celebrate a December holiday, or your card will arrive late | Happy New Year | Happy New Year |

The Emily Post Institute's guidance points the same way. For someone you're unsure about, it gives a business contact as the example and advises "something that has a broader sentiment", on a card "with no religious figures, messages or symbols on the card." It adds: "A greeting for the New Year avoids all of the holiday season's religious associations which can be a nice option for some" ([Emily Post](https://emilypost.com/advice/holiday-greeting-cards)).

You don't have to pick one greeting for the whole list. With Personalized Gifts Delivered, each order carries one message, which can greet each client by first name from your [address list](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/how-it-works/client-address-spreadsheet-template), so split the list: one order says "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah" to the clients you know celebrate, and another sends an inclusive message to everyone else. One box is a complete order. The full guide: ["Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"?](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/card-messages/merry-christmas-or-happy-holidays)

**How to use the templates:** [Name] is the client's first name; on a Personalized Gifts Delivered order it becomes each client's own first name. Replace anything else in [brackets] before you send: whatever you type there goes on every card in that order.

## 10 Short Holiday Messages for Clients (Warm but Professional)

One line each, no fields. Any of them works as the one message for a whole list.

> Thank you for a wonderful year. Happy holidays!

> Warm wishes for the season, and thanks for everything this year.

> Grateful for your business and your trust. Happy holidays.

> Here's to a restful holiday and a strong new year.

> From our team to yours: happy holidays and many thanks.

> May your holidays be restful and your inbox quiet.

> Glad we got to work together this year. Happy holidays, and see you in January.

## Inclusive Holiday Messages: Defaults for a Mixed List

A little longer, still with no holiday assumed. The first four need no fields.

> Wherever the holidays find you this year, we hope they bring rest, warmth and time with the people you love. Thank you for being part of ours.

> As the year winds down, we wanted to pause and say thank you. Your trust made this a good year for our small team. Happy holidays.

> The days are short and the to-do lists are long. Here's a reason to stop for a warm cup and a minute to yourself. Happy holidays.

> Season's greetings from all of us. Thank you for your business, your good questions and your good humor this year.

> [Name], we're still smiling about [one moment from this year]. Thank you for it, and for a year that went by too fast. Happy holidays.

> Happy holidays, [Name]. Of all the reasons we had to be grateful this year, working with you was an easy one to name.

## Merry Christmas Messages for Clients (Warm, Not Religious)

For clients you know celebrate Christmas. These mention the holiday without religious language.

> Wishing you a merry Christmas and a quiet week after it. Thank you for everything you trusted us with this year.

> Merry Christmas from our whole team. Thank you for making this year one to remember. Enjoy every minute of the break.

> Merry Christmas and happy new year. It's been a pleasure to work with you, and we're grateful for every bit of it.

> May your Christmas be merry, your travel smooth and your out-of-office reply switched on. Thank you for a wonderful year.

> Merry Christmas, [Name]! The treat is for Christmas Eve; the thanks are for the whole year.

> Merry Christmas, [Name]! We hope Santa treats you as well as you treated us this year.

## Religious Christmas Messages, for Clients Who Share Your Faith

Send these only where you know the client shares your faith; for everyone else, use the inclusive or Christmas messages above.

> Wishing you the peace and joy of Christmas. We thank God for clients like you, and we're grateful for your trust this year.

> May the blessings of Christmas fill your home this season. Thank you for all you entrusted to us this year.

> "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace." Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas, with thanks for a good year together.

> Celebrating the birth of Christ with grateful hearts, and counting you among this year's blessings. Merry Christmas, [Name].

> May the hope and peace of Christmas stay with you into the new year. Thank you for walking with us this year, [Name].

## Happy Hanukkah Messages for Clients (Hanukkah Starts December 4)

Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, and ends at nightfall on Saturday, December 12 ([Hebcal](https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/chanukah-2026)). Aim for a Hanukkah card to arrive before the first night, about three weeks ahead of a Christmas card. With Personalized Gifts Delivered, order by Monday, November 23. Gift ideas and timing: Hanukkah client gifts 2026.

> Happy Hanukkah! Something sweet for the eight nights ahead, and our thanks for a wonderful year.

> Wishing you and your family a happy Hanukkah, full of light, latkes and time together. With thanks for a good year working side by side.

> As the candles are lit this year, we'll be thinking of the clients who made ours bright. You're one of them. Happy Hanukkah.

> Happy Hanukkah, [Name]! Wishing you eight bright nights and a year full of light, with our thanks for this one.

> Happy Hanukkah and happy new year, [Name]. Thank you for a lovely year together. Wishing you a sweet end to this one and a sweeter start to the next.

## Happy New Year Messages for Clients (and for Late Cards)

A New Year card is the right choice for three groups: clients who don't celebrate a December holiday, a list you'd rather not sort by faith, and any card that will land after December 25. "Cards are usually sent anytime from Thanksgiving until a couple weeks into the New Year," says the Emily Post Institute ([Emily Post](https://emilypost.com/advice/holiday-greeting-cards)). With Personalized Gifts Delivered, order by Monday, December 21 for a New Year arrival; more in [New Year client gifts](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-calendar/new-year-client-gifts).

> We held this until the holiday rush was over, so it wouldn't get lost in the pile. Thank you for a great year, and happy new year.

> Here's to a new year of good work, fewer surprises and more time off. Thank you for everything last year.

> A new calendar, a fresh start, and a thank-you we didn't want to rush. Happy New Year from all of us.

> New year, same gratitude. Thank you for another year of working together, and warm wishes for a healthy, happy year ahead.

> Happy New Year, [Name]. Last year was better because we got to work with you. Here's to the next twelve months.

> Thank you for being part of our [year], [Name]. We're glad you're in the next chapter too. Happy New Year!

**Clients who celebrate Kwanzaa.** Kwanzaa runs from December 26 to January 1 ([University of Notre Dame BFSA](https://bfsa.nd.edu/events/2025/12/26/kwanzaa/)). It was created in 1966 "as an alternative to commercialism", and "Gift giving is primarily for children" ([Cal Poly Pomona](https://www.cpp.edu/tree/brc/programs/kwanzaa.shtml)). So we wouldn't send a business gift as a Kwanzaa present. A Kwanzaa greeting fits a card on its own; with a gift, use a New Year message.

## Holiday Messages by Industry

The same rules apply in every trade: one specific thanks, no pitch. These add the detail that fits the work.

### Realtors, to past clients

Mailing to past clients? See realtor client gifts.

> Another holiday season in the home you worked so hard for. I'm grateful you trusted me with it. Warm wishes to all of you.

> Whether it's your first holiday in the house or your tenth, I'm still grateful you let me help you find it. Happy holidays!

> Happy first holidays in the new house, [Name]! Thank you for trusting me with your move this year.

> Happy holidays from your realtor, [Name]! I hope the house is warm, the neighbors are kind and [street name] feels like home.

### Accountants and bookkeepers

Some firms send their thank-you after April 15 instead; see CPA client gifts.

> Happy holidays from all of us at the firm. Thank you for trusting us with your numbers and your questions this year.

> Here's to a calm December and an organized new year. Thank you for making our work together so easy.

> Enjoy a quiet December, [Name]. Thank you for a smooth year, and we'll see you when the forms start arriving.

### Agencies and consultants

> Happy holidays! May your inbox stay quiet until January and your next launch go smoothly.

> Thank you for the briefs, the feedback and the big swings this year, [Name]. Happy holidays from the whole team.

> This year we finished [number] projects together. Thank you for being the kind of client who makes the work better. Happy holidays.

### Contractors and home services

> Happy holidays from our crew to your family. Thank you for your trust, and for your patience with the dust and the noise.

> Wishing you a warm, leak-free, no-surprises holiday season. Thank you for calling us this year.

> Thank you for letting us into your home this year. We hope the new [room] is full of good company this holiday season.

### Law firms

Keep the matter off the card: it may be opened at home, by someone else. More on discretion: law firm client gifts.

> Wishing you a quiet, peaceful holiday season. Thank you for the confidence you placed in us this year.

> Happy holidays, [Name]. It has been a privilege to work with you this year. Warm wishes to you and your family.

### Insurance agents and financial advisors

Insurance agents: check your state's gift limit before you add a gift to the card (insurance agent client gifts).

> Thank you for trusting us to look out for your family this year. Wishing you a happy, healthy and uneventful holiday season.

> Wishing you a calm holiday and a steady new year, [Name]. Your trust is the part of our work we value most.

## How to Sign a Business Holiday Card

Sign with a person's name, not just the company (our suggestion: a card from a person reads as a thank-you, a card from a logo reads as marketing). With Personalized Gifts Delivered, the sign-off is its own line, printed under the message on every card in the order, so keep it out of the message itself. Sign-off lines that work:

- Warmly, [Your name]
- With thanks, [Your name]
- [Your name] and the team at [Company]
- From all of us at [Company]: [Name], [Name] and [Name]
- With gratitude, [Your name], [Company]
- Cheers, [Your name] (for clients you're on first-name terms with)
- Blessings, [Your name] (with the religious messages only)

Who should sign, and whether a printed signature is enough: [how to sign a business holiday card](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/card-messages/how-to-sign-a-business-card).

## What Not to Write in a Client Holiday Card

| Don't write | Why | Write this instead |
|---|---|---|
| A sales line ("Let's talk about next year's plans") | business.com's advice to gift senders: "Send a gift, not an ad" ([business.com](https://www.business.com/customers/corporate-gift-study)) | A thank-you with no ask |
| A discount or promo code | In the same poll, "discount coupons seemed to be more resented than welcome by recipients" | Thanks for one specific thing |
| What the gift cost | Recipients' appreciation is not linked to price ([Flynn & Adams, 2009](https://www.gsb.stanford.edu/faculty-research/publications/money-cant-buy-love-asymmetric-beliefs-about-link-between-gift-price)), and some clients work under gift limits, so a stated price puts them on the spot | What it's for: "something warm for the break" |
| Religious wording to a client whose faith you don't know | Emily Post: for someone you don't know well, "something that has a broader sentiment" | An inclusive greeting |
| The case, claim, tax issue or diagnosis | The card may be opened at home, by someone else (our reasoning) | "Thank you for your trust" |
| A long letter | The card holds up to 300 characters | Two or three sentences |

## What to Know Before You Order

- **The cards are printed, not handwritten.** The words do the personal work: every card greets its client by first name.
- **Gift limits.** Government agencies, many companies and some regulated trades cap what can be given or accepted; client gift limits by industry quotes the rules. Our box is $35, delivered.
- **Kwanzaa gift giving "is primarily for children"** (see the Kwanzaa note above). For a client who celebrates Kwanzaa only, a gift goes with a New Year message, ordered by Monday, December 21.
- **Where we ship.** We ship from New York to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC, except Texas for now. P.O. boxes are fine; no Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO or international.
- **The treats.** LINDOR truffles contain milk, soy and barley malt (gluten); read the labels.
- **Order-by dates.** Order by Tuesday, December 15 for Christmas; after that, switch to a New Year message and order by Monday, December 21.

## What Happens to Your Holiday Message With Personalized Gifts Delivered

Each order carries one message and one sign-off. We print them on a textured card, seal it in an envelope with a gold wax-seal sticker, and lay it on the lid of a finished gift box, so your greeting is read before the box opens. [Name] (or {first name}) becomes each client's first name from your address list, and you see every client's card before you pay. Each message can be up to 300 characters.

Under the card is [a logo mug gift box with Ghirardelli cocoa, Lindt truffles and a personal card](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/custom-logo-mug-gift-box): an 11 oz white ceramic mug with your logo printed small, a 1.5 oz packet of Ghirardelli premium hot cocoa and 4 Lindt LINDOR milk chocolate truffles packed inside it, in a matte-black gift box with a magnetic lid, $35 delivered.

Ships within 2 business days of a complete order (your design, your address list and payment). Ships by USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground, with tracking, and usually arrives 2–5 business days after it ships. Delivery dates are carrier estimates, not guarantees, and run slower in mid-December.

| Greeting | 2026 date | Order Personalized Gifts Delivered by |
|---|---|---|
| Happy Hanukkah | Begins at sundown, Fri Dec 4 | Mon Nov 23 |
| Merry Christmas or Happy holidays | Fri Dec 25 | Tue Dec 15 |
| Happy New Year | Fri Jan 1, 2027 | Mon Dec 21 |

Every date in one place: [2026 holiday order-by dates](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/gift-calendar/holiday-order-by-dates-2026).

## Can You Send 25 Holiday Cards With Gifts Yourself?

Yes: you can buy note cards, print 25 greetings and pack 25 gifts yourself, and by our estimate 25 logo mug gift boxes take about 9 hours of hands-on work, plus a week or more waiting for supplies:

- **The cards:** about 45 minutes to write or print 25, and a typo on printed cards means printing all 25 again.
- **The packing:** about 3½ hours, at about 8 minutes a box (treats, foam, tissue, seal, card, carton, crinkle, tape).
- **Everything around it:** about 4½ hours to find a mug printer, place about 8 supply orders, clean up the address list, buy 25 labels, drop off the cartons and follow 25 tracking numbers.

The supplies and postage come to about $38 a box with USPS counter postage (about $34 with commercial postage), with $1,192.84 paid up front for the mugs, the supply packs and 25 postage labels, with leftovers, as of Oct 26, 2026 ([the itemized DIY cost](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/compare/diy-mug-gift-box-vs-ordering)). Per box, that comes out about even with our $35; the difference is the 9 hours and the cash up front.

With Personalized Gifts Delivered, the greeting is the only part you write. Add your logo (or type your website and we'll find it), or a photo or a few words for a personal gift; check the preview of your mug and card; add your address list; and pay $35 per box. We print, pack and ship each box to its own address.

Picked a message? [Start your order](https://personalizedgiftsdelivered.com/order) and paste it onto the card in the preview.

## Frequently asked questions

### What should I write in a holiday card to a client?

In a holiday card to a client, thank them for one specific thing from the year, wish them a good season, and sign with a person's name, with no sales line. Two or three sentences is enough.

### Should a business holiday card say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

A business holiday card to a mixed list should use an inclusive greeting such as Happy Holidays; save Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah for clients you know celebrate. For someone you don't know well, such as a business contact, Emily Post's holiday-card guidance says to "go with something that has a broader sentiment", such as Season's Greetings or Happy New Year.

### When is Hanukkah in 2026?

Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, and ends at nightfall on Saturday, December 12 (Hebcal). A Hanukkah card or gift should arrive about three weeks before a Christmas one.

### Can I put a discount code in a client holiday card?

A discount code is best left out of a client holiday card: in business.com's 2022 poll of 1,547 professionals, "discount coupons seemed to be more resented than welcome by recipients." A thank-you with an offer attached reads as an ad.

### Is it too late to send a holiday card in January?

A holiday card sent in early January isn't late: Emily Post's holiday-card guidance says "Cards are usually sent anytime from Thanksgiving until a couple weeks into the New Year." Word a late card as a New Year greeting.

### Who will ship a holiday gift with a printed card message to each client?

Personalized Gifts Delivered prints your holiday message on a textured card that lies on the lid of a $35 logo mug gift box and ships each box to the client's own address, with no minimum. Each order carries one message that can greet every client by first name, and you see every card before you pay.
